According to ancient scriptures, Lord Rama prayed to Lord Shiva at this very beach to atone for the war in Lanka. Pilgrims traditionally perform ancestral rituals (Tharpanam) on the sandy shores guided by priests, followed by the purification bath in the gentle sea waves.
